Volume and Shine for Thin to Medium Thick Hair

how to get volume and shine at home for thin to medium thick hair from @lifeasaloewen

I’m a mom of three and even though I work from home, I like to look cute every now and again. I don’t like spending a ton of time getting ready because I feel like I always have better things to do. Anything that can cut down my time getting ready but still make me feel like I put a little effort in is a win in my book!

Below I’m going to walk you through exactly how I do my hair from out of the shower through blow drying. I try really hard to use products that are clean and natural, but hair care is one of those areas that I lean on the side of ‘do your best but get the job done’. The products below are mainly paraben free but aren’t going to be winning and clean beauty awards any time soon. #justkeepinitreal

Okay, on to my exact steps!

1. Wash hair in shower normally (I use Young Living’s lavender shampoo and conditioner which is the PINNACLE of clean). I wash my hair about twice a week which makes a huge difference in hair health and I get to go several days between washing which makes things easy and saves time for me.

2. Carefully squeeze as much water as you can out of your hair with towel, being careful not to rub hair as this causes breakage. Flip head over and flip yo’ hair back and forth multiple times to get as much water out without drying just yet.

3. Spray a detangler on hair, focusing on below roots down to tip. I use the L’ange Detangler which works so well! (right now all hair care products are half off!) Carefully brush out hair with wet brush. I LOVE my Sienna paddle brush from L’ange.

4. Use a quarter size amount (less than that for shoulder length or shorter hair) of smoothing balm starting with TIPS and working your way up, avoiding the roots. This makes your hair super shiny and smooth! I use the L’ange Sorbet.

5. Spray a heat shield all over hair to protect from blow dryer and hot tools heat. I love the L’ange Heat Shield.

6. Lastly, blow dry hair with the volumizing hair dryer brush. The steps above all help to prep your hair and this last step and tool absolutely MAKES it. This blower dryer gives you SO.MUCH.VOLUME. and adds that next-level styling. A lot of times I just leave it at this step and don’t even curl or straighten my hair! You can get this blow dryer HERE.
